  • "Whispers In the Night Air"

    He is now beckoning me,
    Moving me to follow.
    Where He leads--I'm unsure.
    I begin to walk towards Him,
    But soon I lose my nerve.
    What if it's a lie,
    Like every thing else before it?

    A hushed silence follows.
    His eyes search mine,
    He speaks without words
    To the deep abiss of my soul.
    Without a sound, He asks me,
    "What do you fear?"
    I swallow hard, and respond,
    "I fear that which I do not know,
    I fear that which beckons."

    A slight chuckle escapes
    This Being who calls me on.
    "There's nothing to fear...
    but fear itself, so follow,
    Have faith that I lead
    Where I've already walked."

    My heart flutters, then stops,
    But only for an instance.
    Then it beats faster and faster,
    As excitement fills it.
    A nervous expectation
    For what lies beyond
    The warm smile of this stranger.
    "What is it that's causing me
    To leap, despite myself?"

    It's the love of this stranger,
    A love and passion so strong,
    That even death lost its grip.
    A compassion so deep,
    That the oceans seem to me as
    Mere puddles on dirt roads.
    A pull that's so powerful,
    That I now lose my firm grasp
    On all that is familiar,
    To follow Him unconditionally,
    To the end of all that is.
